I took two separate trips to North Carolina in 2022. The first trip I took was down to coastal NC in March to search for rainbow snakes. Besides turning up an in shed rainbow, I observed an extraordinary numbers of rat snakes, cottonmouths and ribbon snakes. Additionally, I found a beautifully red colored brown snake.
The second trip that I took was down to the sandhills of North Carolina and then further east to coastal North Carolina again. This foray was once again rather successful yielding numerous salamander lifers and my first ever mole king snake.
